Milad-un-Nabi processions.
History Behind
History Behind
A
group averse to the Pakistan Ideology set at least one and a half
dozen mosques and Imambargahs on fire, looted the homes of Momeneen
and Sadaat in Lahore in the month of Muharram in 1986, causing heavy
loss in men and material as a part of their conspiracy to fulfil
their heinous designs and to promote sectarian biases in the
country. Unfortunately, all that was done in the presence of
Administration and Police. Armed attacks on Imambargahs were carried
out at a time when all Momeneen were at their homes after Sham-e-Ghariban.
There were no security arrangements for Imambargahs. Ruthless scenes
of destruction were witnessed within a span of few hours.
The
Quaid-i-Millat Jafariya, Paksitan, Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi
Al-Najafi rushed to Lahore to visit the affected areas soon after
this incident. Agha Moosavi, during a Press Conference in Lahore on
this occasion held the Administration responsible for the whole loss
besides expressing heart-felt grief over the destruction of 18
mosques and Imambargahs. At that time no arrangement to safeguard
mosques and Imambargahs existed on self-help basis.
On his
return to Rawalpindi from Lahore, the Quaid-i-Millat Jafariya,
Pakistan, Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi summoned a meeting of
caretakers of Imambargahs/mosques, licencees, Taazia-Daraan and
organisers of Majalis-e-Aza and Azadari processions. He delivered an
historic address on the topic of Azadari and protection of Sha'air
Allah. Later, addressing a crowded Press Conference on September 28,
1986 at the headquarters of Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh-e-Jafariya, Pakistan
at Ali Masjid, Rawalpindi, he announced the formation of "Mukhtar
Force" as a permanent wing of the Tehreek.
